Panic Attack Symptoms
The Symptoms you might experience during a Panic Attack are:
- racing heart
- dizziness
- nausea
- feeling that you are going to faint
- hyperventilating or difficulties breathing
- pain in your chest
- vertigo
- out of body experience
- difficulties swallowing
- hot or cold
- waves of warmth
- shallow breathing
-….
Now there’s something really funny about these symptoms you might not know.
Just suppose you are walking in the woods, all alone, and all of a sudden there he is,
right in front of you: Mr Yeti. He exists, he stands in front of you and he looks hungry.
What might happen to you at that time? Is it possible you will get a racing heart, some dizziness, and more of the symptoms I mention above?
Sure.
Is it possible you will think: oh my God, what’s happening to me? Why am I having these symptoms? What’s wrong with me, am I dying?...
Of course NOT! You won’t think that because Mr. Yeti is standing in front of you, all your attention goes to him.
I’m sure you know you would have those symptoms at that time because they are a part of the fight of flight response, preparing you to fight Mr Yeti, or to run away as hard as you can (I suggest this option).
Ok. So your body thinks you’re in danger and it launches all these symptoms.
Now what if you’re somewhere, minding your own business (driving your car, in a supermarket, in a restaurant, in a meeting room, in your own house,…) and you sense something in your body…
and you think: “o…what might that be, am I ok?”
That’s a sentence of fear, it shows your body there is some kind of danger.
“Danger?” thinks your body, I’d better launch the fight or flight response!
So it gives you those symptoms. You sense them, and surely they scare you even more. Your body thinks the danger is even bigger then before and bam, the symptoms increase.
I don’t know if you see it already, but it is your way of thinking in my example here that is bringing on the actual panic attack.
And the good news is your way of thinking can stop the panic attack as well.
I explain how to do this in my free Newsletter.
